Benjamin Reaves is known for his challenging, sometimes iconoclastic, digital collages that express the artist's core philosophies and beliefs. From Nowhere, America suburbia, art became a part of Benjamin's personality early on-- a proud differentiator and a passion that has never left him. While obtaining a BFA with a focus in Photography, Benjamin observed that through his own photographic practice, the frame became a canvas, and the objects placed within became like the thin paper cutouts of his youth. Feeling limited by the resources of mere camera, film, and prop, digital collage became an intriguing medium. Intriguing not only for the infinite possibilities it could express, but also the inherent dissension in a medium that by its appropriative nature challenges established meanings.
